Mobile working - What's in it for me?
If you are spending time rationalising the need for mobile working or are championing mobile working within your local authority you may be thinking – 'What's in it for me?' or ‘Where do I start?’

These are frequent questions posed to the Project Nomad team and the answers are now available to all, in the shape of the Project Nomad Roadmap, the Efficiency Savings and Mobile Working Report and the Beginners Guide
The Roadmap
Designed to take you through step by step, the Roadmap is a guide to develop your mobile working strategic vision in step with your pilot implementation activities. The Roadmap is the place to begin.

Divided into chronological sections which lead into the next (‘Preparation’, ‘Strategic Goals’, ‘Strategic Case’, ‘Early Pilot Selection’, ‘Business Case’, ‘Technology’, ‘Organisational Change’, ‘The Review Process’ and finally ‘Moving On’) the Roadmap will signpost you around the website to all the tools and information you will need to get started.

Efficiency Savings and Mobile Working Report
In recognition of the importance of linking the outputs from National Projects to the efficiency agenda, Project Nomad commissioned a report to demonstrate ways in which mobile computing can contribute to the spending review requirements.

Mobile computing and working can make a significant contribution to increased efficiency particularly in the medium term. For those local authorities that have already started mobile computing projects real short-term benefits are likely. Early Project Nomad case studies demonstrate both cashable efficiency gains and improved performance from existing resources.

The document is now available and provides detail of where mobile computing solutions can achieve efficiency savings. Also included is a mapping spreadsheet that demonstrates where an implementation by a local authority, using the Project Nomad guidelines, may achieve efficiency gains under the ODPM’s Gershon Efficiency Review - as reported using the Annual Efficiency Statement (AES) Check out the report by clicking here
The Beginners Guide
If you are looking for the real basics, an indication of the benefits, or are trying to convince your decision makers that mobile working is the way forward take a look at the beginners guide – designed to detail the benefits and suitability of implementing mobile solutions and to give you a taste of the resources to be found on the Project Nomad website.
