Profile: Ken Eastwood is driving the current transformation of Nomad as National Lead, seeking to build a sustainable, public sector wide community of interest. He is passionate about new ways of working and about technology enabled change. His role includes the development of a rejuvenated programme of activity including the growth of the mobile and flexible working community through the design of an interactive platform to encourage dialogue and information sharing. He has dedicated time to build a dynamic space (publicsectornomads.com) to bring Nomad users the latest news and an immediate outlet to get involved. The site will also serve to provide a taster for the new direction of Nomad. Ken has contributed to many Nomad events and workshops over the years plus many more external events such as eGov and tGov. He continues to speak at and chair related conferences that advocate the Nomad message. Ken is the Assistant Director of Regulatory Services at Barnsley MBC and served as a Nomad board member since 2003. Since his involvement with Nomad began, he has led the Project Nomad Cemetery Headstone Safety proof of concept and more recently led the national ReGS Projects, implementing mobile and flexible working solutions across Regulatory Services, in partnership with Sheffield City Council.

Profile: Mark Baker took on the role of Chair of the Public Sector Nomads Scotland Core Group in March 2009 alongside his role at Aberdeenshire Council. Mark is helping to shape the direction and current agendas of the 32 Scottish councils in new ways of working enabled by technology. He also encourages dialogue and debate within the established Mobile and Flexible Working in Scotland community on the IDeA Communities of Practice Website. Mark works with the Scotland Core Group to deliver relevant events to help delegates progress their solutions, encourage collaboration and shared learning. Mark joined Aberdeenshire Council in 2003 and is now Project Manager for the innovative Worksmart initiative, based within the Chief Exec Corporate Communications department. Worksmart will develop in conjunction with performance management and continuous improvement within the Council. This large scale change program will affect upwards of three thousand staff over a period of five years. Previously, Mark led on the Aberdeenshire Council Diagnostic Pathway project, working with the Improvement Service. However, his background is in the property sector having trained as an architect and latterly focusing on workplace design. This background is clearly linked to the current interest in mobile and flexible working.

Profile: Melanie is situated at Nomad HQ at Barnsley MBC. She is working to help deliver a rejuvenated programme of activity and a new online platform for Nomad. Melanie joined Nomad in July 2004 when the project was led by Cambridgeshire County Council and has relocated to continue her role in Barnsley since November 2009. Her main focus has been to develop and maintain the existing Nomad website and is responsible for all communications and press contact. Melanie is a frontline contact for Nomad and regularly liaises with both Nomad members from the public sector and suppliers alike, to ensure the swift dissemination of information. She is also solely responsible for the coordination of Nomad events and is the first point of contact for external event invitations and for speaking or exhibiting enquiries.
